Announcing SigShare.com's very first sig competition!  This contest is open to everyone except myself and the judges.  Mods are allowed to participate.

REGISTRATION:
=============

We're going to change some rules on how sig contests are run.  For the first seven days starting today, we shall require all participants to register by replying in this thread.  Please leave your personal information in the following format:

SigShare Username (e.g. sigmaster)
Real Name, Age, Gender (M/F) (e.g. Larry Page, 25, M) - For award payment, please enter your real name. This cannot be altered after registration period
Email Address (e.g. user@domain.com)
Cellphone/Text Number
Location (e.g. Manila, Philippines)
Website/Blog URL (if any)
Software/s Used (e.g. Photoshop, Fireworks)

CONTEST DETAILS:
================

SigShare Sig Showdown Vol. I shall have a theme that all participants must incorporate in their sig submissions.

The theme shall be one of the following:
1. Beach
2. Angels
3. Bunnies
4. Aliens
5. Samurais

Participants are welcome to look for renders and experiment their designs during the registration period.

When the 7-day registration is closed, the final theme shall be revealed.  For another 7 days, all participants shall begin working on their sigs and submit them to the gallery.  Each participant is allowed to submit up to two (2) sigs for the contest.  To make a submission, you must upload your entries through the User CP panel.  In your submission, you must choose the category "Sigs > SigShare Sig Showdown Vol. I".  Choosing a different category will mean it's not part of the contest.  In the description, we require you to explain the story behind your sig and the process of creating it.  This will greatly help the judging process.  In the tags field, include all the words possible that describe your sig separated by commas (,).

At the end of the 14th day, further submissions shall not be accepted.  Judging will then commence.  The criteria of judging are:

* 20% - Relevance - Judge rates how a sig is faithful to the contest theme.
* 20% - Complexity - Judge rates the degree of design skills applied to the sig.
* 20% - Coloring - Judge rates the use of colors in the sig.
* 20% - Story - Judge rates how the sig's ability to convey thought.
* 20% - Impact - Judge rates the overall appearance of the sig.

Our distinguished panel of judges includes:

Gail dela Cruz - Professional web designer and owner/manager of Sheero Media .
Aileen Apolo - Google.com's representative to the Philippines.
Pauline Villegas - DotaStrategy.com's strategy/hero idea moderator.
Andrew dela Serna - DS and SS admin.
Alson Kaw (aka The.Raven) - DS and SS Graphics moderator.

The People's Choice Award shall be given to the sig with the highest aggregated votes from users.

Technical Requirements:
1. Size of sig must not exceed 450 pixels in length and 150 pixels in height.
2. Sig must be uploaded in gif, jpg or png format.
3. File size of each sig must not exceed 150kb.
4. Any graphics manipulation software may be used to create the sig.
5. Submitted sigs must be new and not posted anywhere else.
6. Background of each sig entry (minus render/subject) must be emailed to sigshare@alleba.com to prevent cheating/stealing.  This may be in gif, jpg, png or psd format.  These should be emailed before the 14th day ends.  Note that I only need the BACKGROUND of the sig.  Sending the entire sig won't count.

Grounds for Disqualification:
1. Not registering within the registration period disqualifies a participant and his/her sigs automatically.
2. Having more than two (2) contest submissions by the end of the the second week will result in disqualification of the participant and his/her sigs.
3. All sigs that I deem unfit (e.g. not following the theme) shall be removed from the gallery and disqualified from the contest.
4. Violating the technical requirements will disqualify a sig from the contest.

Payment Method:
1. Only the First Prize winner shall receive a cash amount.  The money shall be transferred preferably via Wester Union or PayPal.

Tips:
1. Don't make the sig too small.  Sometimes small sigs tend to be harder to appreciate.
2. Don't create sigs from tuts.  Try to be as original as possible.
3. Use never-been-used renders.  Again, try to be unique.  It'll suck if your sig looks like another one.
4. Think out of the box.  Use filters, tools, styles, methods, colors that you've never dared using.
5. Explain your sig thoroughly.  Judges, included I, will like that.

CONTEST THEME: Celestial Crusaders

This theme is open to interpretation, but by "Celestial Crusaders", I mean flying, living beings with wings.  No butterflies, houseflies, or insect-like creatures!
